The growth of use of public clouds by enterprises is old news. Every survey on the matter shows that almost all enterprises are moving at least some applications from the data centre to the cloud, and the trend has been ever upwards. However, 2020 has seen a total disruption to these trend lines. Many organizations have been forced to jump into the public cloud deeper and further than they anticipated due to COVID and the need to protect their remote workforce. In too many cases the rush to deal with the crisis has meant cutting corners and crossing your fingers. This has been especially true in the area of cybersecurity. Which makes it even more of an imperative to improve the security posture of assets and applications in the cloud AND have a single security posture across all environments: cloud and on-premises.

In the times when cloud is no longer novelty many of organisations still have hesitations whether to go cloud.
One of the key topics is Security, Location of data, Cloud Storage Availability.
There is no perfect answer to this, each organisation is different. There are though several aspects you should consider when deciding on the direction of your cloud journey.
One big one for me is the resilience of your infrastructure depending on the skills and resources managing it.And this is something you need to consider when designing your IT Estate resilience.I will cover this from my IT, OT and Information Security Experience point of view

The headline benefits of replacing legacy infrastructure are clear but modernising IT can mean different things to different IT leaders and the reasons behind it can vary. More security features, increased automation, cloud adoption, enabling a digital workspace are just some of the modernising initiatives cited by IT decision makers in a recent IDG survey. But modernising IT is not without risk and CIOs can hold back because of concerns about disrupting critical IT assets and the impact on end users. This session will look at ways to mitigate these risks while delivering the benefits of a modern IT infrastructure.
